Civic Engagement:
Defending Democratic Principles

When the Knesset voted to exclude MK Ayman Odeh, we made it clear: regardless of political disagreements, removing an elected representative for his words is an undemocratic act. Freedom of expression and parliamentary representation are the foundation of any democracy — and silencing a voice in the Knesset undermines both.

We launched a public petition calling on members of the Knesset to oppose this decision and to protect the integrity of Israel’s democratic institutions. The petition gathered over 80 signatures, and many citizens personally reached out to MK Tatiana Mazarsky (Yesh Atid) through our civic engagement campaign. Alongside the petition, we released an explainer video outlining the legal and ethical implications of the vote — a reminder that democracy is measured not by how it treats agreement, but by how it handles dissent.

Over time, our community has initiated numerous civic petitions addressing key public issues. Among them were calls for Israel to condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine, and to support a ceasefire and hostage-release deal that prioritizes human life and long-term stability.

Each of these initiatives reflects our broader mission — to strengthen public trust, protect democratic norms, and encourage citizens to speak out on issues that shape Israel’s moral and political future. Through collective action and civic dialogue, we help ensure that participation, empathy, and accountability remain at the heart of Israel’s democracy.
